We've been so busy enjoying (and founding!) summer festivals we've had no time for this computer stuff!

Seriously, the first annual Steamboat Stringband Jamboree was completely awesome, and if you need proof, THERE'S VIDEO!! We can't wait to do it again next year! And we just got back from jammin all night at last weekend's Northwest String Summit!

Now we're hittin the road to Long Beach this weekend, settlin in for some great hometown shows in August, and heading out for a Columbia Gorge brewery weekend in September!

And we've got a cool new merch item available on Bandcamp - Oly Mountain Boys trucker hats! Available in royal blue, navy blue, green, black, red, and purple! Throw in a few Bluegrass is Sexy stickers while you're at it!

We just wrapped up a huge celebration of Rhythm and Rye's first year with Hillstomp, plus a night of back-to-back sets at the Capitol Food and Wine Festival and the Olympia Acoustic Festival. And we say, let the festivities continue!

  • Tye and Josh, plus special guest Joe Capoccia of the Pine Hearts, are bringing Olympia bluegrass north to Juneau, Alaska to perform at the Alaska Folk Fest
  • Olympia Artswalk will be a blast as always, and more so this year as we get to open for the great Tony Furtado at Rhythm and Rye!
  • The Steamboat Stringband Jamboree is now right around the corner! Two days of music from 17 of the very best string bands from the Pacific Northwest playing at the cozy and historic Prosperity Grange Hall in Olympia, WA. When purchased in advance, tickets are $15/person for Friday May 8th, and $20/person for Saturday May 9th (prices are $5 more at the door). More information, including the schedule, the full lineup of bands, and links to pre-purchase your tickets online, at: www.steamboatstringjam.com
  • We'll be closing out a special bluegrass showcase on Saturday night at this year's Folklife!

Let's start off with a big thank you - for voting White Horse one of the Top Ten Northwest Albums of 2014 in the Northwest Music Scene readers' poll!

And then let's get straight down to marking your calendar for all the great shows we have coming up. We're collaborating with some great musicians you won't want to miss!

Speaking of the Jamboree, we've got new bands (Blackberry Bushes! Country Banana Split! Crow and the Canyon! Max's Midnight Kitchen!) New poster! New website! A new Twitter feed! And a new partner (Rainshadow Arts)! Check it out!

Get your tix soon - this event will sell out!

It's been a memorable year, and we want to close it out in a big way before we up the ante in 2015!

First things first - we'd like to see White Horse voted one of the Top Ten Northwest Albums of 2014 in the Northwest Music Scene readers' poll! If you agree, it takes only three clicks to vote! You can find our name waaaay at the bottom of the list. Voting closes December 12th! Thanks!

Closing out 2014, we've added a new December show, at Robin Hood Pub (December 20). Looking forward, we've got a run of Tacoma shows to start out the new year, and we'll be joining The Student Loan Stringband (February 28) and Hillstomp (March 21) back home at Rhythm and Rye! And biggest of all, The Oly Mountain Boys and the Pine Hearts are teaming up to bring some of the biggest names in the West Coast stringband scene to the Prosperity Grange Hall in Oly for a two-day Steamboat Stringband Jamboree (May 8-9)! We're looking for sponsors to help fund the event - contact us if interested!

Happy holidays, see you in the new year, and as always, thanks for your support!

It's been a whirlwind White Horse release month, and it culminated with a great Artswalk show at Rhythm and Rye. Meanwhile, White Horse reviews are turning up in our hometown South Sound Weekly Volcano and as far off as the UK's Folkwords! More to come!

We've got great shows coming up, some in familiar places and some brand new! Like this Friday (November 7th), when we start the night at Cassava in Longview for First Friday Music, and end by closing the show at ol' Rhythm and Rye with The Lowest Pair and The Love and Stress Compound! We're also honored to be a involved in some great happenings in the South Sound community this coming month. For Veteran's Day (November 11th), we'll join the celebration of the 125th anniversary of Washington's statehood at the Washington State Capitol by performing one of Washington's state songs, "Roll on Columbia!" And on November 15th, we get to be part of the opening of the Tacoma Art Museum's "Go West" exhibit!

Keep an eye on the shows page for more!

P.S. Are you kicking yourself for not getting your hands on an Oly Mountain Boys t-shirt during our Kickstarter campaign? Good news - a few extras in limited sizes are available through our Bandcamp page! Once they're gone they're gone, so grab one now! And perhaps a copy of White Horse to give as a gift...

A short and sweet update!

White Horse has been released!

Read about it on Foxbeard Music! Or No Depression! Or Prescription Bluegrass!

Order the box set on CDBaby! Download it on iTunes! Stream it on Spotify or Soundcloud!

Thank you to each and every one of you who backed us on Kickstarter, have encouraged us over the last year of making this very special album, and who attended our very special pre-release concert and reading with the Washington State Historical Society! More shows still to come!

It's finally real - and in our hands! (Thanks to you!)

We spent our Labor Day weekend signing and shipping over 150 box sets to our Kickstarter backers. And so far they like what they hear! We've heard lots of compliments about the music and the accompanying written material. Now we're getting ready to release it all to the rest of the world.

White Horse will be available to buy on our website through CDBaby on September 25th. Between now and then, we'll be working with Sue DuMond to get White Horse out folk and roots DJs, reviewers, and YOUR favorite radio station - let your favorite bluegrass DJ know they should request a copy from us!

The Oly Mountain Boys think you could all use a little good news today.

White Horse is OFF TO PRINT! We'll have it soon, and so will you!

We've seen some proofs that have us convinced that this album is going to look (and sound) really amazing. Combining some hard driving original bluegrass with some amazing writing, beautiful art, and the graphics work of Euphoria Tea Productions... well, let's just say we think you're going to like what you see. We're excited to announce also that we've signed on with Sue DuMond to help us get the word out about it.

We're going to have a series of shows in September and October to celebrate our new release. On September 20th, we'll be partnering with the Washington State Historical Society for a grange-style White Horse event that celebrates the pieces of Washington history that inspire the backdrop for this album. On October 2nd, we'll have a web concert through ConcertWindow for you far-flung OMB fans! And on October 4th, we'll party down at Rhythm and Rye on Artswalk with The Hollerbodies of Portland and the Warren G. Hardings from Seattle!

But if you can't wait that long, find us sooner - like this week!

Man, we've been busy this month! After hangin with the Steep Canyon Rangers, we hit up Centralia and Tacoma, jammed all night long in Goldendale, and had three great shows (including one amazing house concert) up by Bellingham! We can't wait to go back!

As for White Horse: The layout of our 64-page booklet containing all the song lyrics, stories, photos, and art that make up the album is taking some time to get just right. But we're close, and we're going to send it off this week to get made! We expect to have them in hand by the second week of July.

Between now and then, come see us play!
